How Intuitive Would You Like to Be?

How Intuitive Would You Like to Be?

How intuitive are you? Being more intuitive is just a conscious decision to use more of the natural faculties we all have. Intuition and logic are not separate as they are both functions of the mind and operate better in harmony with each other. Like two strands of rope or graceful dance partners, intuition and logic complement each other. There is nothing mysterious, magical or mystical to being intuitive, though using and acting upon our intuitions can lead to viewing life as a mystical, magical journey.

There are many practices available to us that will help us access our intuition. Meditation is foremost among them, both for the depth that it affords us and the resistance it brings up. A gentler practice might involve the following steps:

* Formulate a clear question or intention.
* Get quiet, clear the mind. (This takes practice; be gentle with yourself.)
* Let go of any fears. Trust.
* Listen to your heart.
* State the question or intention.
* Trust the first impression.
* Ask again for deeper insight.
* Be thankful.
* Act on your intuition.
* Observe what shows up in life hours or days after asking.

For intuition to grow it must be acted upon. How it manifests in your life is unique to each of us. How we initially take in new information or receive first impressions tells us a lot about how our intuition can be more readily available to us. As an example, when you meet someone for the first time, are your impressions based upon what you see, hear, feel or think? Discovering the manner intuition works with you is the key.

After that, it becomes a process of refining and expanding how we receive our intuition. Journaling and drawing are two easy-to-use methods for developing a more accurate intuition. Keep a journal of your intuitive "hits" and "misses," but only the ones you acted upon and owned. This process will empower you and develop trust in your intuition. Getting an intuitive hit serves no one if it is not acted upon. The "hits" will clarify how intuition works for you and the "misses" will help you learn from any mistakes in your intuitive process.

Drawing is a naturally creative activity that allows the symbolic aspects of intuition to surface. You can draw for the sake of drawing - anything creative is intuitive - or you can draw and then interpret your drawing. Drawing is especially fun if you attempt to draw something with your eyes closed and then notice the colors you chose, the shapes used. When you are done, relate the drawing to your current life. The more this is done, the more insights will appear.

Our intuition has the potential to return us to the joy we found in life as children. It is entirely up to us how deeply we delve into the ways that intuition can enrich our lives.
